Mette Bloch: My 2nd puberty: When the drama subsides and the cheese meal calls
Okay, let's talk a little about what happens when we hit a certain stage in life - my so-called 2nd puberty. The word "menopause" sounds a bit like something that should involve capes and secret rituals, but in reality it's more like turning down the drama button and up the "I just don't give a flying f***" feeling .
And to be perfectly honest, it's pretty amazing.
During our 1st puberty, everything is so intense. Every little thing feels like the end of the world. But now? Hot flashes aside (and it can be a burden even if you kick me!), I'm actually pretty good.
I am lucky enough to be one of those people where the mood is stable, and although I may not be jumping up and down with excitement every day, there is a calmness and well-being that comes with being able to shrug and do it. I think gives my life content and makes me laugh.

But now for something we don't talk about enough: S exlysten.
For many women it goes down and it actually feels ok - oddly enough... okay?
It's a bit like having eaten pita bread every day for 35 years. It was great, it was a craving, but now... well, it's still there, and it tastes good, but it's no longer an "I want to go through fire and water" feeling.
That doesn't mean the pita bread (or sex, for that matter) has gone bad. It's just not what tops the "MUST HAVE" list anymore.
I know some feel they are losing a piece of their femininity along with their desire. But as a good friend told me,
"Mette, I've reached the age where I'd really rather have a cheese meal."
And you know what? I can relate to that very well.
So now that we're at it, the urge has hit. I can't control it anymore. I have to have it... NOW! - the cheese meal
